Our industry is drowning with NIL educators/consultants in name only - with no relevant experience and seeking to exploit a nascent marketplace. I did “NIL” (aka athlete marketing) in professional sports for 25 years. I founded one of the most successful sports agencies - Fuse - helping clients like Gatorade, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and PUMA partner with high profile pro athletes. In 2019, I sold my stake in Fuse to build my NIL firm.
Higher Education Teaching Experience
Is it just me or do you think that NIL educators should actually be educators? Unfortunately, most do not have any teaching experience. I have been teaching in higher education for decades, beginning at NYU and then at St. John’s University. Now I teach at the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business, where I developed and teach one of the first NIL courses.
